O CEO da LG, Kwon Young-soo, anunciou na sexta-feira (22 de julho) que a LG irá lançar uma televisão OLED de 55 polegadas. Esse anuncio mostra que agora o foco da LG será a produção de displays OLED para aparelhos de grandes dimensões, visto que o OLED é aplicado em aparelhos compactos e portáteis.
Outro motivo que pode ter levado a LG a se focar na produção de displays OLED é que mesmo com as vendas no setor de televisores tendo aumentado 13% em 2011, a empresa prevê que o mercado para 2012 possa estar mais acirrado, e como escape para ser uma empresa diferencial a LG já estará preparada com seus televisores OLED.
